Ocean Infinity

Ocean Infinity is on a mission to build the world’s largest fleet of marine robotic vehicles, offering the safest and most sustainable operations the industry has ever seen. Spectrum IT plays its part through effective placement of essential tech staff across software, hardware, cloud, AI and tech operations, as well as senior heads of departments both in the UK and Portugal. We have transformed an existing and ongoing relationship into an exclusive arrangement.

We already supported Ocean Infinity with its UK hiring, but they were struggling to scale its team locally in Porto. Despite working with various agencies, results were limited. We stepped in to help build out their DevOps team in the region, recruiting multiple DevOps Engineers, which significantly improved their engineering capabilities in Portugal.

This led to an opportunity to hire for the critical and newly created role of Head of Software Engineering in Porto. This complex and pivotal position required a strong leader capable of streamlining engineering teams in the UK, Portugal and other international offices – a headcount of 50-60 people – without comprising company culture. A challenging hire, the role required someone who could align IT and engineering functions with strategic goals; coordinate with the Tech Director and Engineering Managers across all locations; and drive innovation and cohesion throughout the business. We used our wealth of experience and in-depth knowledge of both the industry and the client to deliver a successful hire.
