Overview

This 500-person-strong logistics company was going through a period of transformation with its technology function when we started working with them. They had two internal Developers, who had been there for several years managing a legacy part of the product, and a CTO. The rest of the work was outsourced, but they were looking to build an in-house team. However, they had little experience of hiring software engineers and building an engineering team.  

We had an existing relationship with the CTO, who moved across to The Delivery Group Ltd when it bought out a product he had built in his previous employment. We began working with them on a retained basis outsourcing all eight vacancies and management of the process to Spectrum IT.

This meant scoping the requirements of each role, working closely with the CTO to create a team structure and building the job specifications for each level. We formulated a talent attraction strategy and benchmarked the roles based on the current market. The CTO was very busy running the current business technology operations, so struggled for time to review CVs and candidates. We built a process with a dedicated recruitment portal to centralise CVs, and outsourced the first interview/screening stage to Spectrum IT to streamline the process.

We had a 100% fill rate across the vacancies, with a 91% conversion ratio from candidates represented to those interviewed for the role. This meant a far higher quality of candidates for the hiring managers, allowing them to see multiple well-suited options for each vacancy. Within four months, all eight roles were filled and the successful candidates had started, massively bolstering the companies in-house development capabilities and allowing them to undertake several new greenfield projects that will drive more revenue for the business.
